Owner Assisted Service Dog Training

Our Owner-Assisted Service Dog Training Program is designed for clients who want to be actively involved in the development and training of their service dog. This program provides professional guidance while allowing the handler to participate in the training process alongside our trainers.

This collaborative approach helps build a strong working relationship between the handler and dog while ensuring the dog develops the skills necessary to perform reliable service work.

Program Length

The Owner-Assisted Service Dog Training Program typically takes 12–24 months to complete, depending on the dog’s progress, training consistency, and the complexity of tasks required.

The cost of the dog is the responsibility of the client.

Training is tailored to the daily lifestyle and environment of the handler, ensuring the dog can work effectively in real-world situations.

Disability-Specific Task Training

Each service dog is trained to perform tasks that directly mitigate the client’s disability.
Task work may include:
  • Medical alert or response
  • Deep pressure therapy
  • Retrieval tasks
  • Behavior interruption
  • Mobility assistance
  • Anxiety or panic response
Tasks are customized to meet the individual needs of the handler.

Program Goal

The goal of this program is to develop a reliable working team between handler and dog, ensuring the dog can safely and effectively perform servicerelated tasks while supporting the client’s independence and daily life.
