CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
(Star Puppy, CGC, UCGC and CCGC)
We offer multiple options for GGC training and evaluation. The AKC Canine Good Citizen courses help provide a perfect framework for training your dog to become a polite member of society. The training focuses on being polite around other dogs, handling distractions, preparing and mastering social skills, and being polite for grooming. Each of these options includes a six-week course that provides you with the tools and the training needed to complete the evaluation at the end of the class. A CGC certificate can be utilized for many different situations such as rental mandates, insurance discounts, and a steppingstone towards future goals, including but not limited to therapy and service dog work. We also offer an option of testing without taking the six-week course.
For the safety of your dog and all other participants, all vaccines (including Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies are required prior to enrollment in classes as All Stage Canine Development. Listed below are the items needed in your training kit for class. If your dog has any specific allergies or needs, please ensure your tools are complacent to those needs and advise your trainer. Please wear comfortable shoes that will allow you to move freely. During the first session, the trainer may recommend additional items or tools to assist with the training process.
Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.
